Linda Darsow Sutton

Martinez, California

Linda Darsow Sutton, Bodega Beach, 13 x 20" watercolor

Transparent watercolor is my primary medium. Brought up to see color optically cultivated a personal fascination for transparent color. Attracted to the elegant atmospheric effects enhanced by the light bouncing through the color from the white paper. Light on the natural environment, atmosphere, wildlife, water, results in a sense of instance that encourages a-never ending attempt to express respect for the natural world we have left, and its preservation.

Visits to favorite Sierra places, Montana, and occasional new adventures provide me the opportunity to research and collect exciting references while I paint on location. Always present is the desire to express the value of appreciating the delicate balance of unspoiled environments and their inhabitants, particularly some that are rare and unique to California, where I was born.

I currently teach adult watercolor classes at Walnut Creek Civic Arts. I am a Signature member of The National Watercolor Society, Watercolor West and the California Watercolor Association.
