Debra Holland-Olson works almost exclusively in pastels.  "I love the versatility, not having to wait for drying.  I especially like how you can change things, completely change the light or dominant color....My major emphasis in my painting is on value and atmospheric perspective."  In her most recent works, Holland-Olson has created a series  of dramatic landscapes of northern California and the Pacific Coast.  "I want my paintings to be a refuge," she says.  "They are for me the grace and rhythm of life."
