Janet Lombardi Blixt

Chico, California

Janet Blixt, Vina Monastery Gate, pastel, 8-1/2 x 12"

"As I paint en plein air I strive to relay to the viewer a sense of the beauty that I see and feel at the moment from God's great canvas of nature. Capturing the light, as it presents itself to me outdoors, is an important part of my art."__Janet Lombardi Blixt

Painting in an expressionistic yet representational style, Janet works primarily now in pastel and oils. The richness of color available in the pure pigments of pastels allows her paintings to have dramatic value
contrast.

Janet Lombardi Blixt began her interest in art as a young child, starting with private art instruction in oil painting at the age of seven. She continued with painting, printmaking and graphic design in college and received her BFA in Art from Chico State University. Her art continues to be influenced by the past instruction of Janet Turner, with whom she worked to obtain a degree in printmaking.

Janet was instrumental in forming the current Chico Plein Air Painters. This group of artists have been meeting weekly at local destinations to capture nature's ever-changing display. They welcome others to join them and may be contacted at LBDesignChico@comcast.net.

Janet's paintings have been shown in the following local galleries: Avenue 9 Gallery, Art Etc., Sally Dimas Art Gallery and the Chico Art Center. She was one of twenty juried artists to participate in the Chico 2004 and 2005 COBA projects.
