Second Annual Plein Air Painting Extravaganza

"A Month of Sundays—and Saturdays"

Artists painted in their choice of 16 Chico gardens over a period of four week-ends:

April 2-3; April 9-10; April 16-17; and April 23-24.

The paint-out culminated in a "Fresh Paint" sidewalk sale at the gallery on April 30 and May 1.

A $20 enrollment fee included the paint-out, participation in the "Fresh Paint" sale, and inclusion in our May exhibit of the same name.

.This was a BPCC event

We have redesigned our Plein Air Painting Extravaganza as offered last year to give artists more flexibility. In 2004 artists painted for seven days in a row. This year we have scheduled four weekends of painting; artists can paint for a single weekend, or for all four weekends. There will be two gardens to choose from on each painting day (9AM-3PM).

Download application form here.

The gardens we chose included:

• A restored house from l85l with a natural garden of native plants
• An urban sculpture garden
• A medieval monastery being reconstructed
• A "cottage" garden with spectacular flowers and a redwood grove
• Vast expanses of natural landscape with horses and ancient oaks
• Tuscan villa with an inner court and reflective pool
• Park-like setting with pond and windmill
• Garden with sculpture surrounded by lavender and old roses
• Victorian farmhouse with vineyard and ancient Deodora trees
• AND more!!

April 9, Saturday, 9-4 p.m. Ray Kruger, offered an outdoor painting workshop for all media. The workshop took place in the patio area of Creekside Cellars.
