"Huell Howser comes to town!"

You all know the program California Gold?

In 2005 (the Bidwell Park Centennial 100th anniversary), Huell Howser came to Chico to do a program on Bidwell Park.  He loved our park and filmed it!  He then decided to return to Chico for the unveiling of the DVD.  The party was at the Chico Women's Club on 3rd Street and the proverbial great time was had by all.

The DVD is fabulous, for sure.  I urge you all to buy your own copy so that any time you have a yen to, you can pop it in and feel that pride of ownership Chicoans old and new tend to feel about the park. You can click on the logo below and go right to the page where you can buy it:

Below is some more fun stuff from that golden September day when Huell came back and posed with us.  Besides being unbelievably enthusiastic, Huell Howser is one of the most genuinely generous individuals we have come across and he let us take pictures with him and feel good about ourselves.  We thank him.

Here are Carolyn Short and Huell Howser. He holds in his hands two bottles of beer.  Click on the bottles to find out what they are.

Chico makes some fine beers.
